So I was in a car crash last night, my first ever. I was in a particularly miserable part of Laconia and collided with a guy in the parking lot. I had two of my students with me, we were running errands for the show. Nobody was hurt (Anna and Graham were actually finding it quite exciting) but my car will be in Laconia for two weeks until it gets fixed. My poor baby. Till then I have a rental, which I don't have to pay for because I have good insurance (pro) but it's a Ford Focus (con). I miss my Saturn already. Oh well... I don't have to pay extra for mileage so it's probably going to take me to CT for Thanksgiving.
I have a new roommate now, she's cool. But a place nearby had a fire so we're getting a third roommate, and we were told he's still in shock because he lost EVERYTHING. Poor guy. Makes me feel not so bad about having a $500 repair bill on my car.
I hope next week is better.

20 years ago I... Was 6. I was in first grade, and that was the year I went to Disney for the first time, the coolest thing ever. Had a crush on the kid who sat next to me in class. Was having panic attacks, and didn't know what they were or what to do, and neither did my parents or teachers.
10 years ago I... Met the Demented Herd, who are responsible for changing my life for the good. Finally had a social group that I loved and loved me back. Parties and sleepovers abounded.
5 years ago I... Turned 21, and was starting my senior year of college. I'd just been diagnosed with mental illness and learning disability, and was starting the arduous road of dealing with both. At this time that year, we were working on The Importance Of Being Earnest, still one of the most spectacularly fun shows that I have ever run crew for.
2 years ago I...
Started my job at A.J.Wright after a stint of unemployment and a summer of living at the Court St. Theatre. I was happy to have some real structure back in my life again. I was made the Service Desk Coordinator, more pay... but still not enough. And thus began my biggest and most successful lesson in overcoming shyness.
1 year ago I... Became a Cash Office person and Lingerie/Accessories Coordinator at AJW. Was wondering if I would be working at the store forever.
So far this year, I've... Finally told AJW to go screw (in the nicest way possible) for what is so far the best full time job I've ever had. I moved out of my first apartment into a temporary location (essentially a dorm) until the new house is built. I've been working 9+ hour days for the last 11 days straight but it's so much fun that I don't care.
Yesterday I... Witnessed my first midterm exam from the perspective of instructor instead of student. Wondered how I ever got so stressed out over a test about sewing...
Today I... Didn't want to wake up so early, but I must go in and continue work on the show (Midsummer).
Tomorrow I'll... Finish up and enjoy the opening of A Midsummer Night's Dream.

ATTENTION A.J. WRIGHT SHOPPERS.
If you need to use our employee restroom, please refrain from explaining your need to the associate who is letting you in. We do not under any circumstances want to hear about your overactive bladder, bladder infection, twelve cups of coffee, pregnancy related urinary issues, or anything of the like. Telling us such things will not justify your interrupting our work so you can go peepee. In fact, it makes us want to let you in even less, if such a desire is possible. The next time you try to give us the update on your bodily functions, do not be surprised if we turn around and tell you about the most fantastic crap we've ever taken. We'll do it. We have no shame. And then maybe you'll realize how inappropriate this line of conversation is with a stranger.
On another note, our store has a new policy; when browsing through the lingerie racks, it is no longer required that you break the hangers and/or throw the apparel on the floor. SO STOP DOING IT. We figure that it will save immense effort on your, the shopper's, part. What can I say, we aim to please.

Sorry the pic is all huge, I suck at internet. But I made a pirate flag and know that most people reading this would appreciate it: a skull over crossed paintbrushes with two roses and a D. That kinda sums me up. It's all huge too, 6 feet by 4 feet. Avast!!!

"Red Man" by Kenna |
] |
I ended up working the whole day while suffering from the flu. I hurt, but dear god I love the people I work with...
Connie asked me to do something, and my response was a snarky "no." She grabbed the tape gun, spun me around in a circle, and taped my arms to my torso. So I see another coworker by the registers and I yell "BRAAAANDOOOOOOONNNN HELP ME!" Brandon is a new pal of mine, we're still getting to know each other. And yet, when he came to the desk and saw me with my arms taped down, the first thing he asked was "And what did you do to deserve this?" And proceeded to give Connie tips as to how to tape me to prevent me from moving.
He just ASSUMED that I deserved it... he learns fast *L*

There's a boy who works at Starbucks Who is very inspirational. He is very inspirational because of many things.
I come in at 8:11, and he smiles and says, "How are you?" When he smiles and says, "How are you?" I could swear my heart grows wings!
So today at 8:11 I decided I should meet him I decided I should meet him In a proper formal way.
So today at 8:11 as he smiled and said "How are you?" I said "Fine, and my name’s Kristen" And he softly answered, "Hey." And I said "My name is Kristen, and thank you for the extra foam…"
And he said his name was Taylor, Which provides the inspiration for this poem:
Taylor the latte boy, Bring me java, bring me joy! Taylor the latte boy, I love him, I love him, I love him…
So I’d like to get my nerve up To recite my poem musical. He would like the fact it’s musical Because he plays guitar. So today at 8:11, Taylor told me he was playing In a band down in the village in the basement of a bar.
AND he smoothly flipped the lever to prepare my double latte, But for me he made it triple! (And he didn’t think I knew) But I saw him flip the lever, and for me he made it triple, And I knew that triple latte meant that Taylor loved me too! I said, "What time are you playing? And thank you for the extra skim…" He said, "Keep the $3.55," because this triple latte was on him.
Taylor the latte boy, Bring me java, bring me joy! Taylor the latte boy, I love him, I love him, I love him…
I used to be the kind of girl who ran when love rushed toward her. But suddenly a voice whispered "Love can be yours, if you step up to the counter, and order."
Oh taylor, the latte boy Bring me java, bring me joy Taylor the latte boy I love him, I love him, I love him.
So many years my heart has waited, Who’d have thought that love could be so caffeinated? Taylor, the latte boy, I love him, I love him, I love him. I love him, I love him, I love him.

Wow.
So, I've been exercising the old creativity muscles as of late. The last few weeks have been spent painting for Charlie Brown (I finished at 2 this morning)... and I think it looks great. One of the most fun and satisfying painting gigs I've had. Oh yeah, and I adore the cast. They're all so HAPPY! And tons of fun.
Also, I have finished my first digital painting (thankoo Steph for guiding me on that). It's kind of a self portrait in a way. It's based on a conversation I had with somebody one day, about how it was gross weather outside and how they wanted a blue sky for once, and I told them that I'm fortunate enough to make my own damn blue skies when I paint. It really became a metaphor for controlling my own happiness - I can make my own blue skies.

( Blue Skies )
Anyhoo, I had it sent out to be printed (it's like a foor by a foot and a half or so) and it came out great, so I went to Michael's to get it framed. I had no idea framing was so expensive... with really very inexpensive materials, it came to $300. BUT: They were having a sale, and any framing job over $300 would have a hundred and fifty dollars taken off! And mom had given me a gift certificate... so I paid $125 for the three colored mats, glass, frame, etc. I'm psyched. It will be done on the 19th. I can't wait to see it hanging on my wall!
I've rambled long enough. I'm gonna go make tea.
Oh yeah, and a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY RIN!!!!!!! *mwah*

, you're now logged in! Below you'll find your test result. After, continue on to your homescreen to discover what we're about.
Almost All Calvin
You are 90% Calvin and 10% Hobbes | While Calvin-ness predominates within you, there are still traces of sensibility, kindness, and reason in there, too. Your Calvinesque side makes you adventurous and lively, and you temper that with Hobbesian good-sense, most of the time. It's a good combination. Look how cute you are with the little tail and stuff. | |
My test tracked 2 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender: | You scored higher than 99% on calvin | | You scored higher than 99% on hobbes |
